2019 Operation Rise Up
July 2019 (Southampton, NY) – On Saturday, July 27th Bridgehampton Benefit presented its 5th annual Charity Event, “Operation Rise Up” in support of Operation International and the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy Foundation, at the Southampton Arts Center. The event celebrated Carlos Beltran’s retirement from the MLB while simultaneously raising awareness and supporting our mission of restoring Puerto Rico’s medical infrastructure back to its pre-hurricane Maria health.
The evening was a collaborative initiative between Operation International and the Carlos Beltran Foundation. Dr. Medhat E. Allam is the Chairman and Co-Founder of Operation International, a 501(c)(3) which offers medical aid to adults and children suffering from the lack of quality health care in impoverished countries. Operation International provides free medical care to people in need, regardless of gender, cultural, ethnic, political or religious affiliations, in countries around the world (https://www.operationinternational.org/). Carlos Beltran is the Founder of the Carlos Beltran Academy Foundation(CBBAF), a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to realizing the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy’s educational programs and priorities through financial, volunteer, and community support. Their primary objective is raising funds for the CBBA so that it can continue to offer exemplary academic and sports education to the youth of Puerto Rico (http://carlosbeltranacademy.com/).
Saturday's beautiful weather allowed for the perfect outside celebration, with local Pop-Up shops such as Tennis East, Hidden Gem, Aloof Icon and others, guests were welcomed at 6 pm with a red carpet walkway into the swarm of media cameras capturing the excitement of the evening. The guests arrived in droves and were treated to an array of activities and entertainment both inside and outside the Arts Center.
The event was filled with a number of amazing performers including, Willie Santana, Brooke Moriber, Mari Burelle-Valencia, Sammi Rae & Los Vegas, and others. It also included a live and silent auction, and music and dancing.
“The few hours spent enjoying the summer night together may seem small but those few hours mean so much more to the lives we’ve helped.” said Zimmerman on the incredible night, continuing “On behalf of Bridgehampton Equities, the Bridgehampton Benefit would like to thank all of our incredible sponsors and friends for their generous support in making Operation Rise Up a success.
"Together we can do great things and bring awareness one event at a time."
